Stefan Redecker is the primary photographer for Snowballstudio and has been busy in the advertising industry since 1997. Since photography plays a crucial role in advertising, he spent a lot of time around the expectation of the photographic element and soon realised that photography is a very powerful medium and speaks more than a thousand words and this intriguing process has grown into his passion over the years.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?
I am based in Windhoek, Namibia, but cover weddings throughout Namibia.

How did you get started in weddings?
I owned the whole range of photographic equipment we need at our advertising agency Snowballstudio but mainly used this for all kinds of advertising purposes like posters and billboards and one day I was asked by a couple Margo & David that got married in court on the 27th of February 2011, that really liked my style of capturing the whole story in one image. My motto has been to never “say no” immediately, so I stepped into the unknown sphere of capturing love. Once these first images of that wedding were out in the public domain the requests came in and I never looked back.

What inspires you?
I am inspired by the NOW. What happens NOW is the most beautiful, dramatic, emotional and the only real thing you will ever experience. Now can take forever and it can pass by faster than you can imagine so it is a very flexible thing that can even bend time. It has been my inspiration to capture the now as best as possible and freeze it in time so that people have a visual bridge to go back to those special moments and be able to relive and remember them for years to come.

Favourite place in Namibia?
The Dunes in the Skeleton Coast of the Namib Desert.

What advice would you give to brides and grooms?
Live in the Now. Don’t plan too much and don’t stress if things don’t go to plan. Enjoy every second of your wedding. It will never come back and you will only have the images, your ring and your love.

Most importantly; love each other – it will show in the photos.
