Coming from a graphic / visual design background, photography just came as another creative space I wanted to explore. I did my first wedding in 2010 and today I still love the satisfaction I get from capturing moments and the creative freedom I have when doing wedding photography. I love shooting in a journalistic style, so for me it’s all about capturing moments, I believe one must have an eye and feel for this kind of photography, capturing those photos with the perfect lighting from a couple in the sunset or a little zebra and donkey on a dusty farm road with the couple in the foreground where you just know you will never be able to stage this photo again.
Where are you based and what areas do you cover?
I am based in Windhoek, Namibia, but cover weddings throughout Namibia.
How did you get started in weddings?
My first wedding came from a photography mentor of mine who could not make a wedding shoot, and I was thrown into the deep end not knowing 100% if I was ready to take on a wedding shoot alone, glad to say that the couple was really blown away by the photos and I enjoyed the experience so much that I decided to accept corporate and function photography requests and went into wedding photography as well.
What inspires you?
Capturing unique moments that you will never be able to stage again.
Favourite place in Namibia?
Swakopmund, Sossusvlei, and the beautiful farms in Namibia.
What advice would you give to brides and grooms?
I would say, just to have most of the planning done before your wedding day so that you can relax and just enjoy your day with your loved ones.
