Photography is my passion and I make that shine in my work. I try to stay away from the typical and I'm always on the hunt for new ideas, techniques, props and have a unique quality of making people feel comfortable in front of the camera.
I appreciate the people I meet, the places I go, the hours I keep, and the spontaneity in every shoot. I love the raw reality of everyday life, the fleeting beauty of those in-between moments, and I do my very best to take every picture with that in mind.
Capturing moments and creating memories is my therapy. Trust and friendship is the foundation of my passion as a Freelance Photographer.
Where are you based and which region, cities or towns do you cover?
I’m based in Windhoek but cover the whole of Namibia. Travel is not an issue for me.
How did you get started in the industry?
I only started in 2014 so it’s been a little over 2 years now that I’ve been doing photography. Wedding wise I only started this year and absolutely love it! When you view my work you’ll see my main focus is detail (Portraiture). I take great pride in capturing those important moments.
What inspires you?
Meeting new and wonderful people.
Favourite place in Namibia?
Luderitz. Such a beautiful and colourful town with amazing history!
What advice would you give the MyBigDay engaged couples?
Lighting… Be it natural or artificial. If you want beautiful photos one needs to take into account the importance of lighting.
Consider planning your wedding in such a way that your couple’s shoot starts an hour before sunset. This is when light is the softest and most golden and results in beautiful images vs when you get married at 10 am and doing your couples shoot at 12 pm when the sun is brightest and right above your head casting shadows below your eyes as well as overexposed images.
The same goes for the wedding reception. Make sure there is enough ambient light otherwise one has to use a flash which can “destroy” the overall feeling that you wanted to be captured.
Lastly when it comes to family photos, prepare a list beforehand of who needs photos with whom and in what order. For example it’s best that the wedding couple take photos with the elderly first so that they can go and rest for the reception.
A list just makes things operate more smoothly and also prevents anyone from being left out. To make your life easier task your Maid of Honour or Best Man to manage your list on your wedding day.
